Helena 0.8: QUERY, OpenAPI 3.2 and native Wayland

(go, release-notes) 1 min read by Bartosz Pachołek

The new QUERY method, OpenAPI 3.2 imports, a viewer that remembers soft wrap, and Helena running natively on Wayland.

Helena 0.8.0 brings a response viewer that remembers how you left it, first-class QUERY, and a toolkit refresh.

QUERY is a first-class method

RFC 10008 standardized QUERY in June 2026: a safe, idempotent, cacheable request that carries its query in a body. It now sits in the method dropdown between DELETE and HEAD, and since Helena never gated the body editor by method, it carries the body QUERY exists for.

OpenAPI 3.2

A 3.2 spec's query operations import as QUERY requests, and custom additionalOperations methods import too, instead of being dropped.

Soft wrap that stays on

Turn word wrap on in the response viewer and it stays on, across responses and restarts.

Native on Wayland

Fyne moves from 2.7.4 to 2.8.1, and on Linux Helena now runs natively on Wayland rather than through XWayland. Building from source there needs libwayland-dev and libxkbcommon-dev, or -tags x11 for the old behaviour.

Security

The Go toolchain moves to 1.26.7 and golang.org/x/text to 0.41.0, closing seven advisories govulncheck reported as reachable, including an encoding/xml recursion depth issue reached by the WSDL and OpenAPI importers.
